Over a decade ago. Go do the day trip to the volcanic island of Nisyros. Also the old town is quite nice. There's a crusader castle you can visit. And if you're there a week or more I highly advise going to another island for a couple of nights. Rhides and Dimi are not that far or you can hop over to Bodrum in Turkey for a couple of nights.

Yeah...stayed in Kos town. Was about 16 odd years ago now...nice place.
